Standards that refer to ICC profiles
The ICC profile specification ISO 15076-1, is widely referred to in other standards. The International and de-facto standards listed below are known to make reference to ICC profiles. Standards refer either to a specific dated version of ISO 15076-1 (e.g. ISO 15076-1:2010), or to the undated ISO 15076-1. Profiles conforming to different versions of ISO 15076-1 are interoperable, and a conforming CMM will read and apply any conforming profile. Most image file format specifications and standards allow embedding of ICC profiles. Details of embedding requirements are identified at http://www.color.org/profile_embedding.html.
ICC recommends that standards refer to the undated specification, in order to avoid limiting applications to using older versions.
Since many standards refer to ISO 15076-1:2010, and to avoid this version becoming unavailable from ISO when the specification is updated, ICC has proposed that a future revision shall be referred to as ISO 15076-2.
